Chavez on democracy and the independence of powers
13/02/2004

Chavez's constitution invented 5 distinct powers, one of them the Electoral Power. Well, today Chavez declared that if the Electoral Power decided on a Recall Election by recognizing enough signatures, he would go to the high court and sue and would only abide if the High Court ruled against him. Adding that if the Electoral Board did not rule in his favor he would bring the "proofs" of the Megafraude to the high court. Is Chavez saying that the Electoral Board is that dense not to understand the "proofs"?

That is that for the separation of powers. And I remind my readers of the current effort to pack the high court.

There are still people that think that Chavez is a democrat.

By the way, I am writing again because Chavez is treating us tonight to yet another Cadena where he is inventing rules based on public announcements from the Electoral during the signatures process. Apparently, the advertisements of the Electoral Board have more value than the actual rules. Translation: according to the adds, people were supposed to fill themselves their forms. Which means that any signature information that has not been filled up by the signatary invalidates the signature. Period.

Chavez will not balk at any way to cheat his way out of the popular will.
