Did they meet? Church and tHUGOcracy meeting?

I alsmot posted on it last night but it was too late and too many hours on the road.  But the news was the unconfirmed report that the higher echelons of chavismo met with the higher echelons of the catholic church of Venezuela.

Globovision seems to stand by that scoop today, at 10:23 AM at least, while no one else around says so, and twitter gossip cannot make up its mind on the subject.

So let's assume they did meet and let's look at what it means.

Globo tells us that it was Jaua, the Veep, Godgiven, the self anointed heir, Maduro, the wannabe Cuban promoted heir and JVR, the ever participating to all of these conclaves to shore up the sagging fortunes of Hugo, always thinking of himself as Prez for at least a few weeks before he dies.  Chavez was missing.  So was Venezuela's Cardinal.

Only one interpretation comes to mind: Chavez is really doing bad and after bashing the church for so many years they go back to it, just as the Castro's are doing in Cuba, to help them with the difficult transition.

Should we start a poll as to how many weeks are left for Chavez?  Or a poll as to how likely it is that this meeting really was held?

Then again there is always the possibility of the regime meeting with the Church is to make silly bloggers like me write on the topic...

How many more days will go by before the real status of Chavez's health is made known? You cannot be both on the road to recovery, but dying at the same time. This is complete insanity.

    2. August.

You know what I'm talking about... ;)

    and,

"Matthew 10.33" ... "But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven." It is as you've said above in your 3rd to last paragraph Daniel, how can anyone deny Jesus, then call out to him?

Most Bibles don't vary too much from this paragraph, the intent is not to be mistaken.

And for the non-believers, You can't deny a King's authority in life, fighting against that authority, and then beg for a medical cure only available through the King. It doesn't work that way, not for Jesus, and not for the King of your country. Whoever you decide to believe in.

  4. Dr. Faustus, coming clean with all the facts at this point, after hiding them so long, would be a different form of insanity. It's easier to deny just one insanity than multiple forms. Therefore this pattern will continue, and I predict that we will not have any clear public information until he has already passed. I considered a deathbed cadena, but since you never know when the end will truly come, I predict they will record those, only to be aired after his passing.

Highly educated people, such as you claim to be, do not miss spell Catholic by using a c rather than a C.

Unless of course, it is on purpose.

Chavez will be in "perfect health" until 15 minutes AFTER he's dead.

  7. When people are all about strategy for getting what they want, tactics change according to circumstance.
It is hard for many people to uphold a set of principles when faced with loss.

Even established, and recognized organizations suffer from this weakness and are subject to corruption.

I have noticed that the Catholic Church often strikes deals with governments in order to expand their operations.Remember Chavez is just the kind of person to start a new religion and take a batch of people away from the Church....firepigette

Search the Church and Franco and the rest of the Latin dictators and there a ton of hits. Not all history either. When the pope was in Spain not long ago he all but canonized Franco and his cronies for murdering 2 million Spaniards. In Cuba he forgot that two popes excommunicated Castro and was cutting deals to build up the church there. The Church in Venezuela still has 70% support from the people. Chavez or whoever needs that support and probable cut any deal to get it.

Chavez is and will be alive and well after his body has gone cold. Only will he publicly be dead after his successor has been chosen and the new candidate's campaign posters are printed. There is bound to be an internal fight to determine who will take Chavez role in the campaign as the various factions fall behind whoever they are closest to. One thing is for sure no matter who will be chosen, I can see those posters now; the candidate will be shown hugging Chavez with a tag line that reads something like "en honor a nuestro comandante".

Having had cancer myself, I would not wish the disease, or the treatment necessary for a cure, on my worst enemy. On the other hand, what Chavez (and his merry band of thieves) has done to Venezuela deserves all the punishment that can be metered out in the world, or the next.
