The west is not so interested in Venezuela and it could go the way Cuba has gone for 50 years with no one interfering. I agree with Firepig that to settle for a peace agreement now is only going to allow for the regime to get stronger in their control, power and repression. It is now or never... The only way we can help is to attract international attention and not letting up. Venezuela problem started years before with Chavez as you know. Cuba is on death throws for 50 years. Will Venezeula be on death throws for next 50 years? This is the really big question. You sound like you are going b...Sorry to disagree.

You sound like you are going back to the original plan of the opposition for the 15 years when the government consolidated their position.

The fact that the regime might justify certain things, using convenient scapegoats, does not mean that they need those scapegoats to justify anything, or even that they need to justify at all. They can always find some flimsy excuse for whatever they do, or not find any excuse at all ....that is simply the nature of the beast called 'Thuggery', and they will always make that opposition look at fault.

To act on the fear of this, is to lose power because the plan will be based on a reaction and not on pro-action. You can be assured that WHATEVER the opposition does they will be scapegoated and blamed, and the more fear they have, the more guilty they look .

There can be multiple answers that we can never answer with any certainty as to why they haven't stopped the protests completely( although the guarimbas do seem to be dying down)....the answer that comes most readily into my mind is that they prefer to do things more slowly because slowly is how they decided to boil the population in the first place...it makes them look more tolerant and less repressive....they have patience.Strategy will always be on their side.

I would say keep up the protests, to keep the consciousness awake that something is very wrong in Venezuela, otherwise you fall into a state of normalcy ,and this will benefit the government quite nicely.

firepigettefirepighttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15158275219887987252noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4080946.post-213367035322588692014-03-27T11:44:37.621+01:002014-03-27T11:44:37.621+01:00Bravo, Daniel. I keep reading that the State has a monopoly on violence. Really? The military is corrupt to the bone marrow, so selling RPGs or C4 should be easy and there always be someone with enough money to corrupt the corruptible. Impossible? It happened elsewhere before. Back in 1987, they had blown all my favorite restaurants in Miraflores, Lima. It could happen here. The real problem here is that the innocents get killed, not the ones who should have been put against a wall back in 1992.Charlynoreply@blogger.com
