Media exposure

This blog is receiving a surprising amount of exposure lately. Besides the BBC article and an interview on Sunday, I did get this morning an interview with a Jamaica Radio talk show, where my sparring partner of sorts was Mr. Fox from Venezuelanalysis (site down today).

It was quite interesting from the start since this blog has been giving a link to this pro Chavez site almost since its creation, while it is waiting to have the vaguest acknowledgement of my existence. Well, they do know that I exist now :) There was really nothing controversial this morning. However I was very disappointed that at this level in the game Mr. Fox keeps repeating a very worn out tale. Apparently before 2002 PDVSA was not giving money to the state. How public employees were paid before, including Chavez paycheck, how the Plan Bolivar 2000 was financed, must have come from thin air. For Mr. Fox: PDVSA is a Venezuelan state fully owned company for at least 2 decades now and any benefit, any gross income, belongs to the state and finances the largest share of the national budget, in 2002 as well as in 2006. It is kind of disappointing to see self styled journalist acting as plain propaganda relays, in particular when the Jamaican guys were not even asking about that: Mr. Fox made a point to insert that comment!

But the very best news of the day is the CNN interview by current guest blogger Alexandra Beech. First, she certainly did not get the interview from participating in this blog, she was already quite established before she came to help for a little while. But heck, why not pull towards this blog a tiny corner of the blanket?

At any rate, the video is up and you can watch Alex in all her cosmopolitan self speaking about the future of communism in Venezuela. Look for the video titled "diferentes opiniones".
