Myanmar/Burma today. Venezuela in ten years?

As expected the Myanmar junta condemned Aung San Suu Kyi to 3 years of hard labor (!) because a trespasser slept the night in her garden. All of course very legal since all the laws necessary to condemn her exist, their origin being irrelevant for a military in junta in power since anyone can remember. I think that Hugo Chavez has found the junta his role model. Certainly Venezuela current situation is not, by far, as gross as the Burma one but give it a few years.

Have a look:

Like in Burma, a military caste rules over Venezuela

Like in Burma all in Venezuela is legal, constitutional and a derecho, even to abuse human rights

Like in Burma we already have been shooting live ammo on civilian protesters (2004 and on)

Like in Burma the result of elections is not respected (since 2008)

Like in Burma corruption reigns supreme

Like in Burma some of our natural resources in mineral are reserved to the military (look at what is going on in Bolivar and Amazonas)

Like in Burma we have oil companies willing to look away at the country situation as long as they get the contract

Like in Burma China sponsors our misbehaving

Unlike Burma, we do not have the European Union express forcefully its outrage (yet, but the day will come, mark my words)

Unlike Burma we do not have an Aung San Suu Kyi to admire (yet, and it does not look like it will happen any time soon)

PS: Could you sign the petition? If you already signed with AVAAZ in the past you only need to enter your email, they remember all the other data. I know, I know, collecting 100,000 signatures is not going to overthrow the junta tomorrow, but do you have anything else you can do?
