MIA

I am barely recovering from a migraine that took me out 24 hours.  I missed all the action yesterday, from the burning notebooks to Capriles swearing in.  Be back sometime later today.

  1. Oh, man. I know that feeling. Hope you're well again soon.

Don't know the feeling but hope you recover quickly.

Between the book burning, the supreme court & the racial attacks on Capriles it was a pretty exciting afternoon.

My wife gets migraines from time to time (side effect of living with me? U-decide!) You have my every sympathy, Daniel.

Look at it this way: If you hadn't developed one naturally, the government's antics yesterday would have ended up giving you one.

    1. Boat, we need your help.
      Here I copy it again.

A question for Boat People: could you please, please, translate into Vietnamese a very small text for Wikipedia on Capriles?
      Thanks.

"Henrique Capriles Radonski (born July 11, 1972) is a Venezuelan politician. From 2000 until 2008, Capriles was the mayor of Baruta Municipality of Caracas; he launched his candidacy for the Miranda state government in 2008. In November 2008, Capriles was elected the new Governor of Miranda, defeating Diosdado Cabello. After winning the election primaries held by the opposition, Capriles became the opposition candidate for the Venezuelan presidential election, 2012."

    A Preemptive Strike
A husband walks into the bedroom holding two aspirin and a glass of water.

His wife asks, "What's that for?"

    "It's for your headache." "I don't have a headache."

    He replies, "Gotcha!"

  11. You don't need to come back today. Get the well deserved rest and then come back. We are not going anywhere.

As a migrane sufferer, I understand Daniel's need to recover.

In the meantime, can someone tell me if Mark Weisbrot is still actively supporting Chavez's Bolivarian revolution? I read his column in The Guardian and there's not been a peep for the longest time. Has reality clicked for Mr Weisbrot?

  13. Has reality clicked in for Mr. Weisbrot?

I think the question should be: Is the Venezuelan government not funding any more research from CEPR?

Mr. Weisbrot is a paid monkey. Nothing more, nothing less. And if the monkey is not being paid, he does not dance. Period.

Is it me, or has Chavez sort of exited
    the internationl stage for now?

Chavez made international news today, by informing the international community that a ship containing about $50 million dollars worth of diesel fuel will arrive in Syria next Wednesday. Diesel fuel is used for home heating and for tanks, etc. Chavez also stated that it is the Western Empires and Europe's fault for instigating unrest in Syria! The same reasons for Qaddafi's downfall....Dictators are becoming a smaller group of regimes, no?

    Kepler,

Below is the translation from my friend Ms. BM:

    "

  21. Does anyone know if Daniel is Ok?

  22. Daniel is fine. He had to work to catch up the wasted day Tuesday, and today was in the country side visiting a client for consulting.

Thanks for your concern, But I have had migraines since I can remember, did everything, never found a cure, only some techniques for prevention that do not always work, and thus I just got used to lose several days a year of my life prostrated in bed.

    Kepler,

About the Wikipedia link, under Mr. Radonski picture, the "Thống đố Miranda" has a typo.

The correction is: "Thống đốc Miranda"

Please correct it if you know how since i don't know how to use Wikipedia.

    Thanks

    1. Hi, Boat. I changed it. Thanks again. It's cool someone else immediately added so much more to the part I copied from your text.

Could you please translate to finish up a couple of sentences more? Here they are:

      "== Policies ==
Capriles has made education a central topic of his campaign. The state of Miranda, where he is governor, is the only region in Venezuela taking part in the PISA program"

(I think here someone speaks about that PISA programme.
