DOMA doom
For my US friends! A day to rejoice, infamous DOMA has been killed by the Supreme Court. And states can now have valid marriage for all. Only about 30 something more states to go and you will catch up with France ;-)
In both France and the US, marriage is a civil partnership as far as the governments are concerned. In France, one must be married before a mayor or other official before on can go before religious leaders and receive that religions blessing. Now in the Catholic faith, marriage is one of the 7 sacraments! Now, for those that don't know, there are two choices of what are called vocations! Marriage or Holy Orders! The latter being the biggie sacrament!! Now, the Church only considers that your married if a Priest did it, the State does not care if you went to a Rabbi, Immam or shaman from one of many French colonies. In the US some don't not grasp this concept of church and state!

Vive la différence
ReplyDeleteIn France is it L'Etat.
In the USA it is the United STATES of America.
Don't worry. During the next 30 years, the remaining hetero-only states will embrace freedom.
ah such a race to sound cool and with it....
ReplyDelete???? it affects me directly through many US friends. this is not a matter of sounding cool.
