The night the regime dropped the fig leaf: TWO, 2, Mayors in jail

Amazing, I cannot leave my computer, too much to write. And before exhaustion gets the better of me as I am suffering for a bad cold these past two days I need to tell you that the regime has dropped the fig leaf it had in front to pretend that it was a democracy, not a dictatorship.

Two hours ago I wrote that Ceballos, mayor of San Cristobal was arrested this evening. Details are coming. The SEBIN went to get him at a hotel meeting with his lawyers to analyze the latest TSJ decree against opposition mayors. And they arrested him without showing an arrest warrant, roughing up the assistance. They just took him and that was that, the mayor of one of the largest ten cities of Venezuela, elected with 2/3 of the vote.  We even have already the surveillance video that the shocked hotel employee released.




Had Ceballos been a mass murderer he would not have gotten a different treatment. Voluntad Poplar calls it a kidnapping. I call it arrest in the middle of the night, a traditional activity of all dictatorships (who also do kidnapping, by the way). As a bonus the lawyer says that the interior minister Rodriguez Torres had lied claiming that a San Cristobal Court had issued an order arrest when this court is temporarily suspended and thus cannot produce such a warrant.

If that was not enough we just learned through Twitter that Enzo Scarano, elected mayor of San Diego last December with 3/4 of the vote has been disbarred by a ruling of the High Court without a trial, just a discussion among themselves. In addition he is sent to jail for 10 months.

Mr. Scarano came this morning to his citation trusting that the worst that could happen to him was to be sent to a trial or something.

Thus today Venezuela started "juicio express", express trial, or kangaroo courts, where people are simply arrested without warrant, sent in front of some ad hoc court and receive a sentence without appeal.

This is now a truly ugly dictatorship. A fascist one, just like in Cuba.

Note: from Twitter people are in the dark. I wrote the reasons why these mayors have been arrested in previous posts. For those who did not read them: they are arrested because they did not obey an order from the TSJ of last week as to suppress the protests in their cities even though they have no means to do so. It was a trap, create a crime that the mayors cannot help but commit. And thus chavismo starts getting rid of them.
