Never has it been so long between two posts. More than a month! Who knows whether I have readers left.
Writing about Venezuela is sort of senseless anyway.
But really, a recurrent mention in this blog will be no more. My S.O. has passed last week after a long and painful cancer. November was awful.
The search for a new meaning has started.
Maybe getting back to blogging may bring some solace. We'll see.
Goodbye Ivan, thanks for 19 wonderful years, and the most happiness I had in my life. Until the very end we still managed to laugh a little bit, the secret of long lasting relationships.
And thank you for all the meaningful details you found for us in this blog over the years.
Mes sincères condoléances, Daniel. I'm sure your new life will be full of hope. Future is still here, with a "new meaning" and hopefully the best for you... and Venezuela.
ReplyDeleteI'm still reading your blog and waiting for new posts.
My sincere condolences. I have always found wisdom in your words and hope that you will find inspiration in continuing to share them. I admire the fight that you put up along side Ivan. So sorry for your loss

ReplyDeleteDaniel...I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I have lost 2 wives in this life and I can tell you that while the hole in your heart will eventually heal, the scar will never go away nor should it. It remains as a reminder of all the wonderful memories. Right now it's enough to just keep putting one foot in front of the other. Stay strong!
ReplyDeleteDaniel mi sentido pésame. Yo continuare leyendo tu blog y tus acertados tweets.
ReplyDeleteDear Daniel

ReplyDeleteSorry for your loss Daniel. 19 years is a very long time in our community. Im sure many others still read your blog but after so many years of watching Venezuela fail its hard to post a useful comment.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for your loss! Hopefully you can find some meaning in life as it is now and hopefully even make it better. I wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy new life! /Hugs from Sweden

ReplyDeleteSo sorry for your loss!! I know what you are going thru as I also lost my spouse of 29 years in 2013. It will hurt forever, but the pain is a reminder of having been blessed with having another human being of such significance in your life.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry to hear of your loss. It is difficult.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for your loss Daniel.
ReplyDeleteI hope that you do keep writing and that it helps to get you through this sad time. Staying busy in some way seems to help at least a little.
Although I rarely comment, I've been consistantly reading your blog for 14 years. It's been an amazing journey and very instructive to see how a seemingly functional country can be drawn into dictatorship and economic ruin. I see parallels with what we are experiencing in the US right now. Your Chronicle serves as a warning to any country that thinks it is safe and immune. It can happen anywhere.
If you have the strength, keep your message alive.
La vie continue Daniel, faut etre fort! Bon courage, a te lire..........
ReplyDeleteDear Daniel - My condolences...you were blessed with 19 yrs together.
ReplyDeleteAnd of course you have readers...

I am so sorry for your loss. Sending much love to you and your family. From Puerto Rico.
ReplyDeleteYou certainly have readers and sorry for this news - glad to hear there were many good years too. Keep on writing
ReplyDeleteDaniel, I am so sorry for your loss. You had 19 wonderful years with Ivan, I hope the memories soon outweigh the sadness you feel today.
ReplyDeleteI look everyday for a new post from you and am concerned for your well-being when I don't see one. I, too, hope you will find that writing will help to ease the pain you feel right now. Please take care of yourself.
Sorry to hear it, Daniel. I hope you find strength and can hang in there. Best.
ReplyDeleteThis is so painful for me to read about Ivan. I feel like you've been a good friend as I've followed your blog since Chavez (I think). I have relatives in Caracas and after visiting a number of times "long ago now" I can't go there anymore. I get some news but they also are just empty and I don't like to keep asking, not to mention they are busy working to survive, so I've really appreciated your clear and understandable analysis of this long term "fall" and see it as a case study that this can happen anywhere. My heart goes to you for your future. Hugs and Thank You from San Francisco, CA

ReplyDeleteWow. Classy. Remember this moment when the love of your life dies. And remember that karma is an even bigger bitch than you are.
DeleteYou must lead a very sad life.
DeleteI am so sorry for your loss, Daniel. Your devotion for your partner in life is a true example for the rest of us. Take your time, but strongly consider coming back to your blog, which is a window of truth for all of us that worry about your land. It is much more important that you will ever know
