Colombia versus Cuba

HACER carries a subscription only article from the WSJ where Maria Anastasia O'Grady compares the reasons and the contradictions within the democratic field as to voting for or against an FTA with Colombia. It comes with a good video.

The article is a must read. Amazingly many democrats have no qualms trying to improve trade with Cuba, read "lifting embargo", while trashing Colombia trade. The contradiction in this is just stupefying.

As for my take on it? Not only the embargo should be lifted but FTA should be signed ASAP. The Democrats would make a terrible mistake in voting down the FTA with Colombia. In the end the winner of all will be Chavez (and Brazil behind). Remember senator Leahy, you read it here first.
